Do I need to be fit before I start?
Not at all. Many of my clients are complete beginners. Every programme is tailored to your current fitness level, so we'll start at a pace that's comfortable for you and build from there.
What happens during my first session?
Your first session focuses on understanding your goals, fitness level, lifestyle, medical history and any injuries. We'll discuss what you want to achieve and create a personalised plan together.
How often should I train with a personal trainer?
This depends on your goals, availability and budget. Some clients train once a week for accountability, while others choose two or three sessions each week for faster progress.
I'm nervous about joining a gym. Can you help?
Absolutely. Many clients feel anxious when they first start. I'll guide you through the equipment, explain everything clearly and help you build confidence in a supportive environment.
Can you help me lose weight?
Yes. Weight loss is one of the most common goals I help clients achieve through tailored training, realistic nutrition advice and ongoing support.
Can you help me build muscle and strength?
Definitely. Whether you're looking to tone up, gain muscle or increase strength, your programme will be designed around your individual goals.
How long will it take to see results?
Everyone is different, but many clients begin to notice improvements in their energy, strength and fitness within a few weeks. Visible physical changes usually follow with consistency.
Do you provide nutrition advice?
Yes. I'll provide practical nutritional guidance to support your training and help you build healthy habits that are easy to maintain.
Where do personal training sessions take place?
Sessions are available at Better Gym Mere Green, in your own home, at your home gym or outdoors, depending on what works best for you.
I have a home gym. Can you train me there?
Yes. I regularly work with clients in their own home gyms and can make the most of the equipment you already have.
I don't have any equipment at home. Can I still train?
Absolutely. We can use bodyweight exercises or I can advise on a few simple pieces of equipment that offer the best value for your goals.
How much does personal training cost?
Prices vary depending on the type of coaching and the number of sessions you book. Get in touch for a free consultation and a personalised quote.
Do you offer block bookings?
Yes. Block bookings are available and can offer better value than paying for individual sessions.
Can I train with a friend or partner?
Yes. Partner and small group personal training is available if you'd like to train with someone else.
What if I have an injury or medical condition?
Many clients come to me with previous injuries or health concerns. Training programmes are adapted to suit your circumstances, and where appropriate I'll work alongside guidance from your healthcare professional.
What areas do you cover?
I work from Better Gym Mere Green and provide mobile personal training across Sutton Coldfield, Four Oaks, Mere Green, Streetly, Little Aston, Lichfield, Tamworth and the surrounding areas.
Why should I choose Terry Brewster Personal Training?
With over 16 years of experience and more than 10,000 personal training sessions delivered, I've helped hundreds of clients achieve lasting results. My coaching is friendly, supportive and completely tailored to you, with many clients choosing to train with me for years because they enjoy the process as much as the results.
Is personal training worth it?
For many people, absolutely. A personal trainer provides expert guidance, motivation and accountability, helping you train safely and effectively. Rather than wasting time on workouts that don't suit your goals, you'll have a personalised plan designed specifically for you, helping you achieve results faster and with greater confidence.
How much weight can I lose with a personal trainer?
Everyone's journey is different, so it's impossible to guarantee a specific amount of weight loss. Results depend on factors such as your starting point, lifestyle, nutrition, consistency and commitment. My role is to provide a realistic training programme, practical nutritional guidance and ongoing support to help you achieve sustainable, long-term results.
Can a personal trainer help with back pain?
In many cases, yes. Exercise can play an important role in improving strength, mobility and posture, which may help reduce certain types of back pain. However, every situation is different. If you're experiencing ongoing or severe pain, I always recommend seeking advice from your GP or healthcare professional before starting an exercise programme. Once you're ready, your training will be adapted to suit your individual needs.
Can I get fit at 40, 50 or 60?
Absolutely. It's never too late to improve your fitness. Many of my clients begin their fitness journey later in life and discover they feel stronger, healthier and more energetic than they have in years. Every programme is tailored to your current fitness level, allowing you to progress safely and confidently at your own pace.
What's the difference between a gym instructor and a personal trainer?
A gym instructor is there to help members use the equipment safely and answer general fitness questions. A personal trainer provides a much more personalised service, creating a bespoke training programme, monitoring your progress, keeping you motivated and adapting your plan as your goals evolve. You'll have dedicated one-to-one support throughout your journey.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends entirely on your goals, schedule and budget. Some clients benefit from one session a week to keep them accountable, while others prefer two or three sessions each week to accelerate their progress. During your consultation, we'll discuss what works best for you and create a plan that fits your lifestyle.
Do I need a gym membership?
Not necessarily. I offer personal training at Better Gym Mere Green, but I also provide mobile personal training at your home, in your own home gym or outdoors. We'll choose the environment that best suits your goals and preferences.
What should I wear to my first session?
Simply wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, along with supportive trainers. Bringing a bottle of water and a small towel is also a good idea. Most importantly, come ready to enjoy the experience—there's no pressure to perform or be super fit from day one.
Can you help me prepare for a fitness event or holiday?
Yes. Whether you're training for a charity run, obstacle course, sporting event, holiday or special occasion, I'll create a programme that helps you work towards your goal safely and effectively. Together we'll focus on building the strength, fitness and confidence you need to perform at your best.
Do you offer corporate fitness sessions?
Yes. Corporate fitness sessions are available for businesses looking to support employee health and wellbeing. Sessions can be tailored to your workplace and objectives, helping to improve fitness, boost morale, reduce stress and encourage healthier habits across your team. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Why do your clients stay with you for so long?
Many of my clients have been training with me for years. That's because I focus on building genuine relationships, creating enjoyable sessions and delivering realistic, long-term results rather than quick fixes. My aim isn't just to help you reach your goal—it's to help you maintain it.
